This winter, the Seminoles said goodbye to arguably the greatest running back in Florida State history, Dalvin Cook, who rushed for over 4,400 yards and 46 touchdowns in his career. However, if we learned anything this spring it’s that the Noles might replace Cook with someone who is just as talented.
True freshman Cam Akers has a long way to go if he one day wants to pass Cook in the record books, but he showed why he was one of the most highly-touted recruits in the class of 2017 during Florida State’s spring game. Just a few months removed from his last high school game, Akers rushed for 87 yards and put up 102 all-purpose yards in his Seminoles debut a few weeks ago.
When Akers signed at Florida State, FOX Sports listed him as one of 10 true freshmen who could get immediate time in 2017. At this point, it looks certain Akers will see the field. The question now is how good can he be.
